Bakers of all ages are being encouraged to enter the Melplash Agricultural Show’s best cruffin competition.
Originating from California, the cruffin is a croissant/muffin hybrid. Croissant dough is baked in a muffin tin and then stuffed or decorated with fillings of your own choice.
The competition is sponsored and will be judged by the new Rise Bakery based at Crepe Farm in Symondsbury.
First prize is a £50 voucher for Rise restaurant in West Bay, the second is a £30 voucher and the third is a £10 voucher.
If you’re a budding baker and fancy taking up the challenge to make the best cruffin at this year’s Melplash Show on August 22, entry forms are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre or can be downloaded from melplashshow.co.uk.
It costs £2 to enter and the closing date is August 16.
Two cruffins should be taken to the show for judging at 9.30am, along with a list of ingredients and the recipe.
They will be judged on appearance, creativity, texture and flavour.
