TOWN councillors have decided not to object to an application for a garage and extension at a property in Netherton Road.

Weymouth planning committee were asked by a neighbour to make an objection to the planning application for No 16 after fears that the building work might have an effect on his foundations and make maintaining his adjacent property more difficult.

Cllr Graham Winter said that the issue was not really one for the committee and would come under Dorset Council’s building control team if there were concerns about stability. The committee voted not to object with a final decision expected to be made by a Dorset Council planning officer.

Agents for the applicant said of the scheme: “The proposals are for a simple single-storey side extension to an existing kitchen comprising of 29.4m2. We believe this could be carried out under the permitted development rights. However, we present the proposals as a Householder Planning Application to enable the council to determine this matter. The extension is sympathetic to the main house and is simple and contemporary. It provides much needed dining and utility accommodation for a family home.”
