Are you ready to raise a glass this weekend?

The Dorchester Cider Festival will be returning to the Borough Gardens tomorrow.

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the free event which promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Robert Matthews, Dorchester Round Table Chairman, said: “We look forward to welcoming you all to what has become one of the most anticipated events in the Dorset calendar. We have over 80 ciders for you to sample from local cider producers and a record number of food producers from Thai food to hog roasts and entertainment throughout the day from the live bands and the comedy tent. We would like to thank all our sponsors for supporting the event and Dorchester Town Council for allowing us the use of this beautiful outdoor venue. We look forward to welcoming you all on Saturday.”

The event is organised by the Dorchester Round Table and this year’s cider village will consist of 13 different cider producers from across the region, a record number for the event.

These will include Weymouth Cider Company, Mill House Cider Museum, Bridge Farm and Twisted Cider. There will also be other drinks available, including soft drinks.

This year, thanks to the support of Vinny at Six who are providing the main bar at the event, organisers have produced reusable pint glasses, which will be sold for £3 each. This price will also include a programme with tasting notes, and a Cider of the Festival entry form.

The food village will offer a wide variety of dishes, including Dorset Wood Fired Pizza, Taste of Thailand, Cow & Apple and lots more.

Acts confirmed to perform on the bandstand are: The Million Dollar Bash from 3pm to 4pm, followed by The Jimmy Hillbillies from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

The Weymouth-based hip hop act Cuba Libre are playing at 6.30pm, and headliners Imprints – a shanty-folk-rock cider fuelled explosion hailing from Bristol – will play from 8.30pm until the close.

There will also be an acoustic stage and the Heckle & Squelch comedy club tent, which is back for the third year running.

The Dorchester Cider Festival will take place tomorrow from 3pm, and will run until 10:30pm.
