WITH reference to your article “Rat Run” of Thursday August 15.
It comes as no surprise to me that the local council has failed to comprehend why Cross Road has become a “rat run”.
Motorists will always seek an alternative route to predictable delays.
I am quite sure many will agree that Buxton Road was and should be the main route from Portland to Weymouth.
With this in mind why do the traffic lights at the end of Wyke Road have priority.
With a simple change to the traffic lights at this junction the Cross Road route would become unnecessary.
Regarding the Keep Clear road marking at the entrance to Rectory Way.
Why the change from double yellow lines or, is it that they are frequently ignored?
