Four fire engines were called to a fire in a prison cell on Portland.

At 5.15pm on Friday, August 17 Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire in a prison cell at YOI Portland.

Four fire engines from Portland were sent to the prison as this is the standard response to a fire at the Young Offenders Institution.

Luckily the blaze had been extinguished by staff at the prison by the time firefighters arrived.

The crews inspected the area to make sure it was safe before returning to the station.
