STUDENTS at a school in Dorchester surprised a celebrity chef when they visited his restaurant to deliver some fresh vegetables they had grown at school.

Children and staff from The Prince of Wales School dropped in on MasterChef Winner Mat Follas recently, sharing with him produce they had grown in their on-site fruit and vegetable garden.

Mr Follas has a restaurant in Poundbury called the Bramble Cafe and Deli in Buttermarket.

Headteacher Gary Spracklen said: “The children have been growing vegetables as part of the curriculum.

“We believe it’s important children understand where their food comes from and what better way than growing it themselves.

“Mat was delighted to accept the box of fresh produce and is going to create a chutney with the tomatoes and explore some recipes with the white courgettes.

“We can’t wait to see what he comes up with.”
