A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a reported assault at a Weymouth pub.

Following a CCTV appeal put out by Dorset Police, the man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The incident in question is reported to have taken place at about 8.25pm on Thursday, June 20 in the Duke of Edinburgh pub on St Thomas Street.

It is said that one female member of staff was pushed, after which a woman in her 20s was punched twice in the face when she tried to intervene.

The man has been released under investigation while offices continue with enquiries.
