Two beachgoers gave onlookers a scare when they set out to sea on an inflatable and were not seen to return.
West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team was called to Burton Bradstock shortly after 12pm on Saturday.
Officers quickly made their way to the station in West Bay to pick up their equipment and rescue vehicle but, as they were about to leave for Hive Beach, they received a message to say the people had been found safe and well.
The team was then stood down.
Officers have urged the public to stay safe this bank holiday weekend but to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard should you find yourself in difficulty or see something which gives you cause for concern.
