BOURNEMOUTH seafront will be lit up once again on Saturday 14th September, as local sight loss charity Dorset Blind Association return with their annual Bright For Sight fun run, again sponsored by Parley Optometrists.
The fun run is open to all ages and abilities, and everyone is welcome to run, jog, walk, or even skip your way along the 5k or 10k route. Organisers are asking participants to bring along glow sticks, neon clothes and Day-Glo body paint to help make this Dorset Blind Association’s brightest run yet.
Gareth Owens, Community and Corporate Fundraiser at the charity said: “Dorset Blind Association are encouraging runners to raise sponsorship for their 5k or 10k challenge. Whether you raise £10 or £1000, it all makes a difference!”
“Dorset Blind Association have been supporting individuals living with sight loss since 1918. The need for their services are ever increasing and, with the number of people living with visual impairment due to hit 35,000 in Dorset alone, the demand is high.”
Currently, the charity support just under 1000 visually impaired people every month which is powered by their 300+ volunteers.
Entry is still only £15 per person, which includes an exclusive ‘Bright For Sight’ medal and a runners goody bag. Places can be booked via the Eventrbrite website and booking closes on 06.09.19, however the DBA will not be accepting entries on the night. Registration begins at 19:30 with the run starting at 20:30.
