A NURSE died in hospital in Spain after falling ill on a flight from Bournemouth Airport to Alicante, an inquest heard.
Gloria Jane Bill, 59, was treated on the plane while it was on the runway after it landed at its destination before being rushed to Hospital del Vinalopó where she died on Tuesday, July 30.
An inquest into her death was opened at the coroner's court in Bournemouth Town Hall on Wednesday.
The short hearing heard Mrs Bill had been travelling from Bournemouth to go on holiday in Alicante when she became unwell.
Coroner's officer Laura Thorne said a doctor came onboard on arrival in Spain. At this time she had been placed in the recovery position and her heart was beating slowly.
Mrs Bill, a clinical lead nurse of Goldcroft Road, Weymouth, was taken by ambulance to hospital. The inquest was told tests were undertaken but she passed away.
A provisional cause of death of unascertained had been filed following a post mortem.
The inquest was adjourned by assistant coroner Victoria Cook, with a pre-inquest review scheduled for November 25.
