A RESTAURANT Bournemouth town centre is seeking permission to introduce an outdoor seating area in a pedestrianised area.

Cosy Club in Old Christchurch Road has applied to BCP Council for planning approval to set up a fenced off section outside their premises.

A heritage statement submitted by Richard Pedlar Architects on behalf of Cosy Club owners Loungers UK Limited, says: "Providing external seating adjacent to the existing restaurant will add vitality to the conservation area, provide an active frontage, and add life and vitality to the street scene.

"The proposals will therefore have a positive impact on the immediate surrounding area by encouraging active, public use throughout the day."

The application seeks permission to permit the use of 14.9 square metres of the pavement as part of the restaurant.

The area outside the restaurant was altered as part of council renovations earlier this year. The lamp post and its tall stone plinth which was located close to the restaurant entrance has recently been moved.

Residents have until September 27 to comment on the proposals.
