A training exercise for oil spills will take place next week in Weymouth.

Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) is organising and carrying out this training exercise which is due to take place from Tuesday, September 10 until Thursday, September 12. It will happen in the area of the harbour and the south west corner of the bay close to the peninsula wall.

There will be signs in place while the exercise is in process to reassure members of the public.

Cllr Ray Bryan, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Highways and Travel, said: "I would like to reassure people that this is just an exercise. It is important that these training exercises are carried out. We hope any inconvenience will be minimal."

The exercise will involve booms and other equipment, and while use of the harbour will not be restricted, anyone using the harbour during the exercise is asked to be careful when near it.
