POLICE closed a stretch of the A31 in East Dorset last night over concerns for the welfare of a man in his 20s.
Officers, paramedics and fire crews were called to a footbridge over the carriageway near the Woodman pub at 11pm.
The man was brought to safety just before 2am this morning and taken to hospital to receive appropriate treatment.
The road was fully reopened by 2.30am.
