A car caught fire after crashing into a wall, leading to an emergency call out.

Police were called to the Bell Street, Shaftesbury at 10.51am today to reports of a single vehicle collision.

The car had crashed into a wall, and smoke was seen coming from the vehicle. Fire and ambulance services also attended, and first aid was given to a casualty.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "A crew from Shaftesbury were alerted to a road traffic collision on Bell Street, Shaftesbury at 10.49am this morning.

"One crew attended and provided first aid to one elderly female casualty whilst awaiting the arrival of the ambulance service. Firefighters also made the scene and vehicle safe. The casualty was left in the care of ambulance service colleagues.

"Dorset Police also attended this incident. The stop message was received at 11.34am and the crew returned to station at 12pm."
