A sea-themed film festival will be stopping in Weymouth as part of a global tour.

The Ocean Film Festival World Tour features a number of short films showcasing stories of life both above and below the sea.

The festival is visiting various locations around the UK and Ireland. It will be at Weymouth Pavilion on Tuesday, October 8.

This is the festival's sixth time in the UK.

Tour director Nell Teasdale said: "From surfers to fisherman, and marine scientists to artists, these films feature fascinating characters who have dedicated their lives to the sea’s salt spray.

"This is your chance to dip your toes into the wonders of the big blue – from the comfort of a cinema seat."

The festival began in Australia with the purpose of encouraging more people to respect the oceans.

Some of the films on display include 'A Peace Within' by Philip Gray, which will explore Mexico’s cenotes that ancient Mayans saw as gateways to the afterlife, a surf film called 'Surfer Dan', and 'I am Fragile', which looks at the wildlife of the Arctic regions.
