A HEADTEACHER has spoken of his dismay after arriving at work to find part of his school's gate had been damaged.

Gary Spracklen, headteacher of The Prince of Wales School in Maiden Castle Road, Dorchester, was the first to discover the damage when he arrived at the school for work yesterday morning.

One of the main gate posts appears to have been knocked over, possibly by a vehicle, leaving the gate and shattered bricks strewn across the pavement and road. It happened sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Speaking about the incident, Mr Spracklen said: "I am disappointed to see no note has been left following the damage to our property.

"Rest assured we will be making appropriate enquiries and representations today."

Mr Spracklen said that the school had not reported the incident to Dorset Police.
