Compare the changes of a west Dorset coastal village in a talk taking place next week.

‘Charmouth Then and Now Part Two’ will be the theme of a talk given by Bill Burn and Neil Mattingly for the Charmouth History Society.

Part one had a great turn out when it was presented last year, and this talk will continue the story which gives a very different view of life in the village.

By merging photos of old Charmouth with modern day scenes, the rich history of the village will be brought to life. The Coronation Parade of 1911, the many lorry crashes, smugglers and shipwrecks, soldiers and coastguards will all be seen in a new perspective.

Along with the photos will be many of the more unusual tales of village life and the characters who have added to its past.

The talk takes place on Friday, September 20 at Charmouth Village Hall from 7pm and costs £3 for non-members of the society.
