POLICE were called to deal with a man causing anti-social behaviour on Weymouth seafront yesterday.

A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "A dispersal order was issued to a male for a 12-hour period following reports of him causing anti-social behaviour on The Esplanade.

"If he fails to comply with the direction to leave the town centre then he will be arrested.

"We will use this evidence to support long term anti-social behaviour orders if the male continues to come to our attention."

It follows repeated issues with people causing trouble on the seafront.

On Thursday three people were issued a with Community Protection Notice Warning.

A police spokesman said: "This is the first step that we have to take to when dealing with individuals who regulary cause ASB. If the behaviour does not change Community Protection Notices can be issued which allows us to take further action.

"We are committed to reducing ASB in Weymouth and will continue working with the Dorset Council Community Safety Team and other partners to achieve this."
