INCOME from Dorchester’s Municipal Buildings and the town cemeteries have fallen – according to the latest report to town councillors.

Town clerk Adrian Stuart said that council action might be able to improve income from one of the areas, but not the other, when asked if there was anything officers could do to improve the situation.

He told the council’s policy committee on Monday that Municipal Buildings income to the end of August was down about £11,000 on predicted figures – mainly because one regular hirer, a tango evening, had stopped using the building, losing the council around £3,000 a year. Two other, smaller, regular bookings, had also ceased.

Cemetery income was marginally down, but Mr Stuart said that this normally varied from month to month.

He said in his report that the full year financial projection was still expected to be on budget.

Figures before councillors show the authority has almost £1.68million in cash and investments and that the external audit report was recently completed for 2018-19 with no amendments needed.
