Residents at a Dorset care home donned stetsons, played cowboy games and even tried out line dancing as part of a charity Wild West barbecue.

Colten Care’s Newstone House in Sturminster Newton organised the event to raise money for its charity of the year, the music therapy organisation Jessie’s Fund, and as usual opened up the event to its supportive community.

Residents, their families, friends and carers welcomed visitors for an afternoon of Wild West-themed events, music and games, along with a delicious barbeque - raising £224.17

Newstone House manager Debs Wiltshire, who was dressed as a moustachio’d bandito for the event said: “It was a great day featuring lots of people in fancy dress, from local children, to our staff and our residents.

“My special thanks go to our Colten Companion Sarah-Jane Sheffield, who organised the line dancing, came up with a routine and ensured it was great fun for everyone to join in with, even when rain showers forced us all inside.

“Some of the residents had a go at line dancing too and really enjoyed themselves.”

Guests also took turns on a tin can alley and even had the chance to pan for ‘gold’.
