GREENHILL Gardens in Weymouth is to get a ‘green’ makeover – after comments made by Green Flag judges earlier in the year.
The gardens which are maintained by the town council in partnership with the friends group have won the national award for 13 years.
Among the proposals are fitting LED bulbs to the current lighting, including at Bennett’s shelter which will use 90 per cent less energy; to create a small area of native planting and an area for bugs; to install a nature trail for young people and a handrail for people with limited mobility between the gardeners’ compound and Sea Scape Café.
Enquiries are also being made to see if the toilet doors can be changed to help people know whether the cubicle is vacant or engaged.
The total cost of the improvements is estimated at £8,750.
