A FORMER corner shop in Monmouth Road, Dorchester is to be converted back to a home.

The convenience store closed in December last year after being advertised for sale since 2015: the price starting at £100,000 and then reduced to £70,000.

After the business closed the shop was offered at £30,000 with three-months rent free, but still failed to attract a buyer.

Dorset Council planners accept that the shop is no longer viable and say that as it is surrounded by residential properties its conversion to a two-bed home would not look out of place.

There was no objection from any of the formal consultees, including Dorchester Town Council, and no comment on the application by neighbours.
