AN ENGINEERING firm based near Dorchester has been nominated for three prestigious local and national awards.

Precision Acoustics, which has a factory and laboratory in the Hampton Farm Business Park in Higher Bockhampton, manufactures acoustic measurement products.

The team has been recognised by the highly respected British Engineering Excellence Awards as finalists in the Small Company of the Year category.

Furthermore, it has also been shortlisted in the Lester Aldridge Company of the Year and the Excellence in Engineering & Manufacturing categories in the Dorset Business Awards 2019.

The news comes after an already successful year for the company, which has included a move into new extended premises to house its ever-expanding team.

Precision Acoustics, which has been designing, producing and supplying cutting-edge ultrasound equipment since 1997 to businesses across the world, now has 25 members of staff.

Managing Director of Precision Acoustics Gary Livingstone said: “I’m exceptionally proud that Precision Acoustics has been recognised by being up for these three very prestigious awards.

“To be nominated in the British Engineering Excellence Awards is recognition that our employees are amongst the best and that niche business areas of science can be successfully developed within the UK.

“It is also the first time we have entered the Dorset Business Awards and again that’s not only a testament to our highly skilled and hard-working team but proof that rural locations are being recognised as very capable of developing an excellent business.”

The winners of the Dorset Business Awards will be announced on Thursday, November 28 at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Stuart Dixon, head of marketing communications at Dorset Chamber, who are hosting the awards this year, said: “These awards represent Dorset businesses on a national stage and ensure our county is highlighted as a great place to live and to work.

"It showcases our innovation, leadership and togetherness while inspiring and honouring the people at the heart of our business community.”

Meanwhile, the winners of the British Engineering Excellence Awards will be announced at a gala lunch at The Landmark London on Friday, October 11.
