POUNDBURY Rotary Club held a successful bingo night - and members enjoyed a visit to Highgrove House, home of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Gathering immediately after the Friday breakfast Rotary meeting, members were joined by family and friends for a tour of the royal building in Gloucestershire. The tea and cakes served were very good, with plenty of time to enjoy them before boarding the coach back home.

Close to £900 was raised at the bingo evening to support young carers. The money is used to organise days out and other events for the youngsters who spend a lot of their young lives helping their families.

Many locals turned out for the event at the Trinity Club in Trinity Street, in Dorchester, and a raffle held on the night was supported by a number of businesses. It looks very much like the event will be held annually as it was so popular and was well supported by the Trinity Club.

The next event for the public to enjoy is the quiz night on Friday November 1, which is being held at the Brownsword Hall, Poundbury. All are welcome - teams of six are usual, costing £5 entry per person. The winning team will receive a bottle of wine for each member and its name engraved a trophy.
