A TEENAGER had to be airlifted to hospital following a crash between a car and a motorcycle.
The incident happened on East Street in Chickerell opposite the Turks Head Inn yesterday.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene shortly after 4pm.
An air ambulance then landed at Chickerell Football Field.
A Dorset Police spokesman said a 17-year-old youth was taken to hospital with a suspected broken shoulder.
However, their injuries are not believed to have been life-threatening.
The road was closed between West Street and Lower Way, while traffic was diverted via North Street.
But the incident was quickly dealt with.
Residents watched as emergency services dealt with the incident.
Angela Wighton, a resident living nearby, said: “I thought I heard something, either an ambulance or police car come dashing down the road.
“So I went outside and could see a helicopter flying around, it landed on the old school playing fields.”
Another resident said: “It’s quite dangerous that road by the Turks Head. My daughter rushed over to me and said she could see lots of police cars."
