Delays to work at a Weymouth nature site has meant that a right of way has temporarily reopened.

Maintenance work at RSPB Lodmoor to replace a drainage structure that allows water to pass underneath the walkways through the reserve began on September 16.

Dorset Council says the work will help to reduce the flood risk and will allow the RSPB to better manage the reserve.

Due to a delay by contractors the work is on hold. The path which had been closed across the site reopened yesterday. It will remain open for two weeks, until Monday, October 21.

During the closure, an alternative route around the reserve will be made available for those who need access.
