The Mayor of Weymouth has wished a marshal involved in nasty motorcycle crash a speedy recovery.
Earlier this week, the Echo reported how a crash between a motorcyclist and a marshal at Weymouth Beach Motocross brought the event to a halt.
Speaking at Wednesday’s town council meeting, Cllr Graham Winter said: “During the motocross event there was a tragic accident.
“We know no more of it. Our thoughts as a council are with the steward and the steward’s family, and we hope a satisfactory recovery is made.”
The marshal was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital.
The Amateur Motor Cycle Association (AMCA) then gave organisers the go ahead to continue the event.
An investigation was launched by the AMCA, which appealed for witnesses and pictures of the incident.
The event is organised by Purbeck Motocross Club, Weymouth and Portland Lions Club and Weymouth Town Council.
Organisers are hopeful for the event’s return in the future, with no plans to stop it.
