Access to St Osmunds Church at Osmington will become easier in the future.
The church has been given planning consent to install an access ramp.
It has has consent to widen a footway, regrade a path and install a dropped kerb.
The ramp will replace the existing steps at the lytchgate to enable access for the less able-bodied, wheel chairs, buggies and mobility scooters.
Only the top step will be removed with the others covered by the new ramp.
The application had the backing of the parish council and the Dorset Council conservation officer.
The officer has specified which type of mortar ought to be used in the construction.
