Tails are wagging at the prospect of a new ‘dog café’.

The new venture, at Aura Café Bar on Weymouth seafront, coincides with the first weekend that dogs are allowed on the main beach after the summer restriction is lifted

The café’s launch event on Saturday, November 2 will see staff give away free doggy canapés and Cormac Linehan, owner of The Pet Experience, offer advice to owners on dog nutrition and health.

There will be a full bespoke menu for four-legged friends, created in association with The Pet Experience, as well as new breakfast menu for owners.

There will also be beds, bowls and a toy box plus a ‘dog photo booth’ along with other fun photo props.

Staff at Aura said while many establishments promote

themselves as ‘dog friendly’ and allow pets on the premises,

they wanted to go a step further and create a café specifically catered towards dogs and their owners.

After the launch event the dog café will operate 8am-5pm every Saturday and Sunday.

Manager of Aura Café Bar Kyle Holmes said: “Dogs are considered part of the family, so we have decided to treat them as such and create a specifically catered environment for dogs and their owners.

“Owners can come here without worrying about the needs of their dogs being met.

“So, if you want to spoil your dog with some posh food, socialise with other dogs and their owners, take some fun pictures, or simply enjoy a guilt free drink knowing your dog will

be comfortable and catered for, come in and see us.”

He added: “We have created a truly individual and innovative environment for dogs and their owners.

“With dogs being allowed back on the beach, we aim to give people a comfortable, friendly environment just a stone’s throw away from the beach where they can come to relax and refuel.”
