Runners painted the town pink during the Weymouth Parkrun in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a yearly campaign that runs throughout October and aims to educate people about the importance of early screenings, tests and more.
The decision to go pink last Saturday was made by run organiser Lisa Worthington to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan is one of the largest British charities and provides support to millions of people who are affected by cancer.
Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and spoke of her gratitude towards Macmillan: "Dealing with the diagnosis of cancer and its treatment is incredibly hard. This is where Macmillan plays such an important role; with support that is easily accessible and dedicated to making life with cancer as comfortable as possible."
A total of 324 people turned up and 50 wore pink to support Lisa in the campaign.
After the run, around 30 people swam in the sea without wetsuits to ‘literally turn pink’.
Lisa and her fellow runners raised a total of £250 which will pay for 10 hours of a Macmillan nurse’s valuable time.
Lisa said: "I’m so proud to be part of such a generous, caring and ‘up for it’ community where people enjoy getting involved in supporting a good cause.
"The parkrun is a fantastic event which allows people to achieve their running goals at the same time providing a really welcoming and sociable atmosphere. It is these communities which make living in Dorset so special."
