Would you be kind enough to pass on my heartfelt thanks to Hayley the purple-haired carer (I didn’t get any other details of her name) who so kindly responded to my call for help from the water at Ferrybridge on October 27, when I had been knocked from my kayak in a fast current, and had to take shelter in a moored boat some distance from the shore.
She didn’t just phone for help; she very thoughtfully waited to make sure I was OK, until an RNLI rib arrived.
The three RNLI volunteers, Alice, Lawrence and James, got me safely to shore and even retrieved my kayak and paddle with the help of another kayaker, whose name I unfortunately didn’t get.
I’m hugely grateful to all of them for their great kindness.
