'Multiple trees' were blocking the Weymouth-Waterloo railway line this morning.

South Western Railway (SWR) warned that a number of trees had fallen between Weymouth and Brockenhurst.

Services running between the two stations were due to be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Teams worked to clear the trees from the track.

Trains across the entire network had also been running at a reduced speed this morning due to the weather.

Due to 70mph winds battering the county, trains are running at a 50mph speed restriction on all lines.

Disruption was expected until 2pm.

The restriction has now been lifted.

Passengers are still being urged to check their journey before they travel, as some changes to timetables have been made.

Trains on the Weymouth-Waterloo line were not stopping at Holton Heath, Wool or Moreton until further notice. Replacement buses were in operation between Bournemouth and Weymouth to serve these stations.

A SWR spokesman said: "We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
