A property was evacuated after a fire broke out.
The incident happened in St Alban Street in Weymouth last night.
The street was cordoned off while firefighters tackled the blaze.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 6.10pm.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “Weymouth wholetime and on-call firefighters were called to a property fire in St Alban Street.
“They used four breathing apparatus and two hose-reel jets to extinguish the fire.
“The smoke was then ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
“all occupants vacated the property safely thanks to working smoke alarms.
He added: “The fire caused damage to one bedroom and highlights the importance of keeping doors closed to stop the fire spreading.
“The door was not a fire door, but it was still able to prevent the fire spreading to the rest of the flat.”
