Thousands packed Weymouth Beach and seafront for the free annual Big Guy Fawkes Event.
Organised by Weymouth Town Council, it included a funfair, stalls, a big bonfire on the beach and of course, an amazing firework display. The children’s Guy Fawkes competition was won by Imogen Wadsworth.
Following a wet and windy few days, Tuesday night was clear which meant perfect conditions for the fireworks which lit up Weymouth Bay.
Weymouth Town Council said the event drew ‘record’ crowds – with more than 10,000 people attending.
A spokesman said: “Weymouth Town Council is delighted with the popularity of the night. It provided a safe and free event for families and the community to enjoy, while supported by and benefitting many local businesses on Weymouth seafront and beyond. The town prides itself in hosting big events and looks forward to a busy and eventful build up to the festive season.”
