A FOOTPATH which runs through a Weymouth beauty spot will close for three days next week as maintenance work at the site resumes.

The right of way that crosses Lodmoor Nature Reserve will be closed from Monday (11) for around three days, Dorset Council said.

The path was due to be closed for one month from September 16, but delays to the planned engineering work meant it temporarily reopened at the start of October.

The council says next week's closure is needed to replace a failing culvert system. The works will actively help to reduce upstream flood risk and allow the RSPB to better manage the reserve, and meet their objectives set out in the Country Stewardship Agreement by Natural England.

An alternative route will be available for those who need access.
