Weymouth Esplanade's technicolour LED lights have been installed and are now in the testing phase.
There are a total of 28 computer-controlled LED lighting strips attached to lampposts along the promenade between the Pier Bandstand and the Pavilion.
They were switched on yesterday evening for a test run - however Dorset Council wants to make it clear that there is still work to be done.
A spokesman for Dorset Council said: "Installation of the lights is complete and testing is now underway.
"Testing will continue into this week and we will provide an update later this week on final completion and when residents can expect to see the lights on."
