A man has come forward after police put out a CCTV appeal when a passenger was abusive towards a bus driver.

It was reported that at around, 8.40am on Wednesday, November 6 a man got on the bus outside the law courts in Westwey Road in Weymouth and proceeded to shout and swear at the bus driver before kicking the door and leaving.

Another incident, which is believed to have involved the same passenger, occurred shortly before 11am on Saturday, November 9 at the Dumbarton Road stop on Portland Road.

The man got on the bus, sat down and when asked to leave by the same driver he shouted and swore before spitting at them.

After Dorset Police put out a CCTV appeal, a 24-year-old local man has come forward and is assisting police with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made at present.

First Wessex Managing Director Marc Reddy said: “We have zero tolerance to anti-social behaviour on our vehicles and towards staff. We urge anyone with information to contact the police so this type of anti-social behaviour will not go unpunished.”
