Emergency services were alerted to a car on fire in Winterbourne Abbas.
Firefighters were called to Coombe Road to extinguish the blaze yesterday.
A spokesman for Dorchester Fire Service said at the time: “A crew from Dorchester are currently dealing with a car fire on Coombe road, Winterbourne Abbas. Please avoid the area if possible and expect delays."
Dorset Police was alerted to the incident by the fire service just before 5pm.
A police spokesman said the incident is believed to have happened 'on the bend'.
In an update at around 6.10pm, a spokesman for the fire service said they had now left the scene and handed over to the highways authority (Dorset Council) to clear up an oil spill in the road.
"Two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the flames," the spokesman said.
"Nobody was injured."
