SEATON TOWN 3
LYME REGIS 6
LYME Regis emerged victorious from their Macron Devon & Exeter League Premier Division derby at Seaton Town with a madcap 6-3 victory.
Joe Bond’s scuffed shot put Lyme ahead before the striker latched on to a Fred Parsons through ball, rounding the keeper and slotting home.
Bond claimed his stunning quick-fire hat-trick, again from a pinpoint Parsons assist, to put Lyme in control at 3-0 up.
However, Lyme’s past failings when defending aerial balls returned to haunt them as Town pulled one back from a cross, before the hosts made it 3-2 from a free-kick.
A corner unhinged the Seasiders for 3-3, Seaton slamming into the top corner after a weak clearance.
In the second half, Lyme reasserted themselves as Cody Bowditch provided the lethal Bond with his fourth goal before Parsons finished off another Bowditch pass for 5-3, taking a clattering from behind in the process.
And the Seasiders’ finished off on a bright note when sub Danny Rendall grabbed his maiden first-team goal to complete the scoring.
Lyme host Kentisbeare on Saturday (2.15pm).
Boss Gerard Hitchcock said: “It’s tricky because we won 2-1 at their place and it was a tough game.
“They haven’t got beaten comprehensively and in the last few weeks their results have changed.”
Lyme: Garner, M Knight, G Knight, Wellman, Rocket, Fellingham, Turner, Parsons (Fowler 65), Bond (Rendall 73), Vine, Rowe (Bowditch 47).
