EIGHT fire engines dashed to the scene of a house fire in Poole on Tuesday.
They joined police at the scene of the blaze, on the first floor of a semi-detached property in James Road, Branksome, at around 3.30pm.
Crews from Springbourne, Westbourne, Redhill Park, Christchurch and two from Poole, attended along with the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne.
Nobody was harmed as a result of the blaze.
The fire started in a bedroom on the first floor and quickly spread to the roof.
The bedroom was left with severe damage and the house had smoke damage.
Police assisted Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service with road closures. James Road was closed at its junction with Bourne Valley Road, which was also only allowing one way traffic.
Fire service group manager Richard Coleman said the occupiers of the property returned to their home to find the emergency services in attendance and were “incredibly upset”.
He also stressed the importance of having working smoke alarms.
Richard said to visit www.dwfire.org.uk to find more information on how you can ensure your house is safe, and the service are also able to visit homes for vulnerable people to check their alarms.
At the time of writing, the cause of the fire was unknown and the fire service had to make sure the house was in a “safe state” before they could leave.
