THE decision to forbid the sale of houses being built on the site of a former primary school in West Lulworth as second homes could be overturned next week.

Dorset Council’s eastern area planning committee will be asked to approve the removal of a condition on the School Lane site when it meets on Wednesday.

The request by Willton Homes followed the ruling of a planning inspector that the use of such conditions in the Purbeck area was unreasonable.

“In light of a number of recent appeal decisions that have determined that only limited weight can be given to the policy, it is considered that planning permission should be granted for the removal of the condition,” a report by planning officer Peter Walters says.

The application followed the ruling on a flats development in Swanage and has prompted challenges against similar conditions on two other developments.
