WEYMOUTH RNLI is looking for a volunteer to join the team to help save lives at sea – without getting wet.

The Lifeboat Management Group Chairman ensures good communication, information sharing and joint cooperation between the RNLI, team members and the community, and by providing good local leadership. No maritime experience is necessary.

Weymouth is one of the busiest lifeboat stations on England’s south coast. It operates two lifeboats – Ernest and Mabel, a Severn class all-weather lifeboat, and Braemar a B class Atlantic 75 inshore lifeboat.

The lifeboat crew are all volunteers, headed up by the lifeboat operations manager and deputy launching authorities and supported by a shore crew team.

The wider team includes volunteer fundraisers, shop volunteers and youth education presenters.

The role of the lifeboat management group chairman is to provide local leadership to ensure that all functions of the station are co-ordinated by holding regular meetings, developing local relationships and communicating effectively with all stakeholders.

If you have good communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team, have an interest in the RNLI and the ability to chair a meeting effectively this could be the role for you.
