At the end of National Tree Week it's been revealed that Weymouth Town Council is custodian to more than 4,000 trees.

A report to councillors says that the number is likely to increase when the Tumbledown Farm site has been surveyed and added to the total.

The area with the most trees is the Nothe Gardens with 1,039, followed by Lodmoor Country Park with 642, Radipole Park Gardens 539, Weymouth cemetery 309, The Marsh with 170, Melcombe cemeteries 333, Windsor Road 129, Green Lane allotments 120, Southill estate 81, Parsons Close 72, Wyke Road 68, Telford Close 68, Pottery Lane 59, Sandsfoot Gardens 58. All the other areas have less than 50.

The figures have been produced for a committee meeting at the request of Green councillor Graham Lambert.
