Residents have been reassured by police after reports of a group of people trying to sell cleaning products door-to-door in Weymouth.

A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "We have had several calls about a group of people calling door to door in the Dorchester Road area of Weymouth selling cleaning products.

"Officers from Weymouth Response - Team Purple have spoken to two males already.

"Whilst it is not an offence to sell items door to door, they will need the relevant licence to do so, we are currently in liaison with Trading Standards.

"If you have anybody at the door and you do not wish to purchase their items just politely ask them to leave."
