CHANGES have been agreed for two of the five homes planned for the former Olds Garage site at Broadmayne.

The original application involved the demolition of the existing buildings on the site and the building of five homes facing Main Street, including a terrace of three, and pair of semi-detached dwellings. The access to the site for cars is to the rear with a shared driveway and two parking spaces for each.

Blue Homes from Christchurch said it wanted to make changes to the floor plan and elevations of plots 1 and 2 to improve the look of the scheme.

Parish councillors decided not to object to the changes but commented that the effect would be to alter the parking arrangements which would result in the loss of parking spaces for use by visitors to the homes.

“This can only exacerbate parking problems in an area of the village where there is no extra capacity for on-street parking. Some councillors were concerned that the extra bedrooms involved in this application might also put extra pressure on the parking situation,” they said in their comment to Dorset Council planners.

The original application was approved in the spring of 2018 but work on building the homes has not yet started, although the site has been cleared.

The change has been agreed by a Dorset Council planning officer after being told there were no objections on highway grounds to the changes.
