A MAN was arrested at the scene after police responded to a reported burglary of a Weymouth businesses.

Officers were called to G. Randall & Sons on Newstead Road at 2.55am this morning to the reported burglary, in which a man was said to have forced entry to the building.

A 34-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary, and he is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Speaking to the Echo, Chris Randall, the store's owner, said he understood that a man entered through the door and attempted to escape via the roof.

He said there was damage to the door, but nothing was taken.
