TOWN councillors are not happy with a fresh plan to knock down a house in Weymouth and build an apartment block in its place.

An application for the property in Rodwell Road to be knocked down and be replaced by a six two-bed apartments went before the Weymouth Town Council planning committee.

The revised planning application follows three previously refused applications at the site and three dismissed appeals since 2016.

At the planning committee, Cllr Trefor Morgan that the issue of overlooking into neighbouring properties from a balcony still remained, and that the size and design of the build was 'brutal'.

He said: "They have raised the height of the wall on the balcony but I don't think it still does the job.

"The mass of the building has been turned down several times."

He added: "The design I think would be suitable for an industrial park.

"The houses around there are late Georgian and Victorian and [the design of] this is brutal.

"It's like an alien building for the area."

Councillors gave a majority objection to the plans and it will now go to Dorset Council for decision
