CHILDREN facing Christmas morning without presents will have a reason to smile thanks to a Weymouth manufacturing firm.

IML UK, based on the Granby Industrial Estate, has donated a very generous £200 to the Dorset Echo Christmas Toy Appeal, helping to buy presents for underprivileged youngsters in Dorset.

Jerry Way of IML UK said: "We’re so proud that this donation will bring joy to many children in our area at Christmas - well done to the Dorset Echo."

Every penny of their generous donation will be spent on gifts that will distributed just in time for Christmas.

For families facing poverty, the Toy Appeal can make a huge difference to children as well as parents, who may be relying on food banks and unable to buy presents this year.

The company was started in 1995 by two business partners, Jerry Way and Dave Zollo, and sells components to the aerospace, automotive and medical sectors.

"We are proud of our achievements and are always moving forward utilising the latest advancements in technology,” Mr Way added.

The Dorset Echo Toy Appeal is calling on all residents and businesses to help, after a shortfall in donations this year.

Toys can be donated at collection bins in shops and businesses around south Dorset.

For business owners, all it takes is a one-off donation of £100. To show our appreciation, each business that donates will be featured in an article in the Echo.

Dorset Echo promotions manager Debbie Hellaby said: “Without the support of our readers and businesses we would not be able to help put smiles on all those families’ faces at Christmas, so a big ‘thank you’ in advance for your help.”
