Police are issuing advice after a spate of quad bike thefts in Dorset.

Three Honda quad bikes have been stolen over the past week. Here are some tips to help prevent crime.

  • Keep your vehicle in a lockable garage or building and keep keys in a secure location
  • Cover any windows in the garage or shed where the vehicle is kept
  • Use a grip lock to lock the brakes
  • Secure your machine using fixed ground anchors secured to the floor using heavy duty security chains and padlocks
  • Consider fitting isolating systems to machines such as fuel and battery isolators
  • Consider installing security lighting and CCTV with sensors and alarms
  • Get your machine marked with security marking scheme
  • Consider fitting immobilisers and GPS tracking devices
  • Record machinery serial numbers and take photographs for reference
