IT’S the most wonderful time of the year – and Weymouth is certainly getting in the festive spirit with three major Christmas events today and tomorrow.

SafeWise and Weymouth Fire Station host the annual Christmas Fire Cracker today from 11am until 2pm, with a focus on Christmas safety and live fire demonstrations.

Visitors will be transported to a Christmas past at a Victorian-themed event at the swannery and Palm House from 10am until 9pm, continuing tomorrow.

Stallholders in full period costume will be serving traditional food and drink, accompanied by the sounds of a Victorian street organ. Stalls include a gin bar, candy floss and oriental food from the nearby Gurkha restaurant, as well as mulled wine and roast chestnuts.

Also tomorrow is the popular ‘Chase the Pudding’ event on Weymouth Beach at 10.45am. Join in to raise money for the Will Mackaness Trust.

n Weldmar's fundraising Frosty 5k run due to take place tomorrow has been cancelled due to the forecast of high winds. A spokesman said: "Our partnering event company have told us the winds, which are currently forecast to be up to 40mph, will make the inflatable structures unsafe for participants, staff and volunteers. We’re very sorry to cause disappointment, but clearly safety has to be the first priority. We hope you will join us on the re-arranged date of Sunday, January 5.”, in the same location of the Great Field in Poundbury.

“If you have signed up to take part If you have any questions or are unable to make the rearranged date, please contact Major Events Fundraiser, Abi Shirley, on 01305 261800 or abigale.shirley@weld-hospice.org.uk.

“Thank you for your understanding, and for continuing to support Weldmar Hospicecare.”
